Question 1

Dev is 63 weeks and 11 days older than me, whereas John is 59 weeks and 5 days older than Dev. If John was born on a Friday, on which day of the week was I born?

 A

Sunday.

 B

Wednesday.

 C

Saturday.

 D

Tuesday.

Soln.
Ans: a

John is 63 + 59 = 122 weeks and 11 + 5 = 16 days older than me. Weeks are in multiples of 7 days. So we can ignore them. We can deal with the 16 days alone. Since 16 = 2 X 7 + 2, the excess days are 2. So we can count the day to Friday + 2 = Sunday.

Question 2

How many hours are there between 7::24 A.M. to 9::30 P.M.

 A

14::06.

 B

15::05.

 C

13::04.

 D

16::07.

Soln.
Ans: a

Minutes from 7::24 A.M. to 8::00 A.M. are 60 - 24 = 36. Minutes from 8::00 A.M. to 12::00 noon are 60 X 4 = 240 mins. Minutes from 12::00 noon to 9::30 P.M. are 60 x 9 = 540 + 30 = 570 mins. So total minutes are 36 + 240 + 570 = 846 minutes, which are equal to 60 X 14 + 6 Thus, hours are = 14, and minutes = 6

 C

160°

 D

96°

Soln.
Ans: a
At half past 2, the minute hand points towards 6 and the hour hand points towards 212 marks between 2 and 3. The angle between 3 and 6 is 90° and the angle 212 minute space
= 212 x 6 = 15°
∴ Total angle between two hands = 90° + 15°
= 105°
