Question 1
If $4^{m + n} = 4096$, and $4^{m - n} = 64$, then what is m?
4.5.
5.0.
6.0.
7.0.
Ans: a
By inspection, both the expressions can be simplified to $4^{m + n} = 4^6$ and $4^{m - n} = 4^3$. The bases are same, so powers should be same as well. So these expressions lead us to two simultaneous equations $m + n = 6$ and $m - n = 3$. Solving, we get $m = {6 + 3}/2$ = 4.5. Note: The trick in such type of questions is to keep an eye on the "bases".
Question 2
What is $81^0.11 × 81^0.14$?
Question 3
What is $({33/18})^0.18 × ({33/18})^x = ({33/18})^0.3$?
Question 4
What is x if $8^x = 512$?
Question 5
What is ${7^499}/{7^496}$?
